Nadine
Arab-born, Nadine’s interest in dance started at the age of seven when
she became inspired by dancers in old Egyptian films. After arriving in England, she continued training with top teachers and her mentors include the dance performer Khaled Mahmoud, and Anne White of Planet Egypt. Nadine’s professional career began in Arab restaurants in Oxford, Reading and London. She especially enjoys performing to live Egyptian music and works with the master percussionist Farouk El Safi. Together they have performed at a range of different showcases and workshops and can currently be seen at Reading’s La Fontana restaurant and others in UK. Weekly classes are taught at the Rivermead Leisure Centre, Reading where as well as a general Bellydance class; Nadine offers workout sessions with steps. Classes focus on technique, posture and correct Arabic mannerisms and gestures. Nadine is renowned for her authentic portrayal of Egyptian dance and strives to help students understand rhythm, cultural context and interpretation. Although many Arab families discourage their daughters from dancing, Nadine believes it was her destiny and is honoured to share her love of Arab culture and dance with a wider audience.
