Nikki Livermore
is a fun and dynamic JWAAD trained
Teacher, who teaches workshops throughout the Uk, she has taught and
performed at many of the Uks festivals including Fantasia, Celebrating
Dance, Glastonbury, and Cornbury Festival.
Nikki's specialises in Egyptian styles, both folkloric and modern
Egyptian/Cabaret, with an emphasis on technique and musical
interpretation. She does "dancing to the drum" workshops throughout the
UK with Percussionist John Sleiman. Nikki has done cabaret in Swindon
and Oxford for the past 10 years, she runs the bazaar "Simplyshimmy",
and is MADNS Events C0-ordinator. Nikki organises the "Oxford Bellydance
Bonanza"
Dancing to drums.
In this workshop led by Nikki Livermore and John Sleiman, you will learn
to dance to 5 basic Arabic rhythms, fast, slow and moderate speed and
see where they fit into the structure of a tabla solo, including
entrances, exits and the bit in the middle You will experience dancing
to plain rhythm, decorated rhythm, and accented rhythm. This is an open
level workshop that will stretch all dancers. Advanced dancers may "have
a go", at performing a short tabla solo in conjunction with John if they
so wish, but we will build up to this during the class. The
"Wow" factor.
Learn how to add "Oomph" and polish to your dancing. This workshop will
include.Entrances, postural correction, personality
projection, creating energy, musical interpretation, poses and freezes,
stage presence and exits.
